Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump Refurbishment

Pump Group Coating Centre has just refurbished its third Liquid Ring Vacuum pump after winning a major pump contract with RWE  N Power at the end of last year.  The group have developed a total package for the customer utilising Belzona Polymeric Coatings.

Energy losses due to the effects of viscous drag and surface roughness, accentuated by erosion-corrosion effects, can be reduced by the application of a protective coating to the surfaces of fluid handling equipment.

The unique hydrophobic nature of the Belzona 1341Supermetalglide system makes water simply roll off.

The vacuum pump rotor seen here, is being coated with Belzona 1341 Supermetalglide

The rotor has suffered erosion/corrosion and stress cracking and has been built up / recovered using Belzona 1341 Supermetalglide.

Wear by abrasion is minimized by its encapsulated blend of lubricating and abrasion resistant fillers.  When applied to fluid flow equipment, Belzona 1341 can reduce power consumption, increase efficiency, lower maintenance costs and improve hydrodynamic performance.

Cost Savings in Fluid Flow, independent tests show a typical 6.7% reduction in pump power consumption without changing pump characteristics.  Also reduced maintenance costs in erosion-corrosion situations.

The first coated pumps are now in service and under trials.
